We are having a special fundraiser seminar on Tuesday, January 11th from 730pm to 945pm in order to raise money for Victor’s family to ease the funereal costs associated with bringing him home from Brazil.

Help spread the word, and feel free to bring as many friends as you would like to train together or to introduce to jiu-jitsu.

The normal class fee of $15 will be the suggested donation, but we are asking everyone to give what you are able to give; more will be helpful in reaching our goal of covering the airfare to Rio and back.

We’ve received news that our brother in Jiu-Jitsu, Victor “Pelé” Goddard, was found dead of currently unknown causes this week in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

Victor was vacationing there for the holidays and spent a lot of time traveling to Brazil to train and relax over the last two years; ever since making the initial journey there with Prof. Marcio on one of our school trips.

During the times when he was in New York, Pelé was a constant presence in the school. Always game, but never competitive, his positive energy and easy going attitude was contagious, while his enthusiasm brightened up every practice session.

Our love and support go out to his family and all of the rest of his friends around the world. Pelé’s passing leaves an empty place in the school, but not in our hearts. We will take our memories of him and keep them there.
