Sunday’s BJJ class (gi) will be on hiatus for a little while as Jetsun heals up from some injuries. We hope to reinstate this into the schedule again soon. In the meantime, we’ll see you during the week!

New Sunday sport BJJ class
April 21st, 2011 | Posted in News | Comments OffGood news! Some of you have been clamoring for weekend classes and now you’ve got your wish. Sundays at 230pm we are opening a new Sport BJJ class (with gi). This class will start May 1st.
So, if you can’t come in to train during the week because of your work schedule, now you’ve got no excuse!
Please help spread the word among your friends so we can make a good showing to fill up this new Sunday slot. If there is anyone you know who hasn’t tried BJJ or MMA, drag them into a class. We’ve got loaner gear or we can get them fitted for a gi that they can purchase through us.
See you at practice!
Grappler’s Quest 4-9-2011
April 12th, 2011 | Posted in Gallery, News | Comments Off
Congratulations to Michele Colon for taking 2nd place in her division this weekend at Grappler’s Quest Beast of the East tournament!
Michele dominated her first match, getting the takedown on her way to a beautiful guard pass and nearly finishing her opponent with a rear choke. She maintained control for a textbook 9-0 finish.
The final match was a great back & forth battle with Michele securing the top position early on. However, her opponent sneaked in a good throw late in the match to begin her own attack from the top. Michele hung in there and was working her escape as time ran out.
Special thanks to Jetsun for his coaching & preparation and to Bogdan for his cornering assist. It’s safe to say that Michele has the competition bug and will be back for more!
Guerrero BJJ fundraiser recap
January 25th, 2011 | Posted in Gallery, News | Comments OffThe fundraiser seminar at Guerrero BJJ this past weekend was a rousing success! All expectations were exceeded by raising an astonishing $1750.00 for Pelé’s family!
We’d like to thank Prof. Marcos and Shihan Johnny Guerrero for their wonderful instruction and hospitality. And, of course, our gratitude to all of the students who attended for their hard work and their generosity.
This seminar was another example of how jiu-jitsu becomes more than just a workout, more than just a sport… it is a family. And one that comes together in times of need. Thank you.

Fundraiser class photos
January 15th, 2011 | Posted in Gallery, News | Comments OffProf. Marcio would like to extend his thanks to all of the students, old and new, who came out to our special fundraiser seminar this week. The generosity you showed to Pelé’s family allowed us to meet our goal of $1000 towards the cost of travel to Brazil to help with funereal arrangements.
We were all grateful to meet, talk, and share our memories of Pelé with his family and friends.
Special thanks to Nicole and Greg for helping to organize and for saying a few words of remembrance for Victor. And thank you to Bogdan for taking pictures…
Special fundraiser class for Pelé’s family
January 6th, 2011 | Posted in News | Comments OffWe are having a special fundraiser seminar on Tuesday, January 11th from 730pm to 945pm in order to raise money for Victor’s family to ease the funereal costs associated with bringing him home from Brazil.
Help spread the word, and feel free to bring as many friends as you would like to train together or to introduce to jiu-jitsu.
The normal class fee of $15 will be the suggested donation, but we are asking everyone to give what you are able to give; more will be helpful in reaching our goal of covering the airfare to Rio and back.
We can accept cash or check made out to “Brazilian Sports in Action”. Or if you are not able to come to the seminar, but still wish to help, you can click the button below to donate via PayPal or credit card.
We know that Pelé’s family will appreciate any support that you can provide. Thank you for your generosity.
